Menu

I studied voice at the Royal College of Music (95-97) in London as a postgraduate where I received my performance diploma and studied teaching of voice (ARCM(PG)). When I came top in the ‘Art of Teaching’ class, I was given my first teaching post by the Professor training the course and I have teaching voice since 1997, and doing singing jobs for fun and profit.

I gained my BA degree in Music fromReading University (89-92) where I subsequently taught voice for 8 years (98-06). I gained my MMus in Applied Psychology of Music (specialism music education and vocal pedagogy) from the University of Leeds in 2013 and subsequently completed my PhD in the same specialisms in 2019.

I am a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM), the National Association of Singing Teachers (NATS), and the Association of Teachers of Singing (AOTOS). I am also singing teacher trainer providing CPD for school music teachers, have coached, trained and mentored singing teachers, and I am a lecturer for Vocal Health Education (VHE). I am also a VHE registered first aider.

I currently teach at the University of Leeds on the MMus Applied Performance module, Garforth Academy, VHE, Voice Workshop, and privately at home. I am also a Teaching Fellow at the University of Leeds on the MA Music Psychology, MA Music and Wellbeing and MMus in Performance courses.
